What does this bot do?

The BFSG AccessibilityChecker is an automated tool that checks websites for accessibility in accordance with the Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSG). Specifically, the tool analyzes:

  • Alt texts for images – Can screen readers understand the images?
  • Heading hierarchy – Is the page structure logical?
  • Color contrasts – Are texts also readable for visually impaired people?
  • Keyboard navigation – Does the page work without a mouse?
  • Form labels – Are all input fields correctly labeled?
  • WCAG 2.1 AA compliance – Does the website meet international standards?

Why are we doing this?

From June 28, 2025, many websites and online stores in Germany must be barrier-free – this is stipulated by the Barrier-Free Strengthening Act (BFSG). Our tool helps website operators with this:
